Activities are intended for the whole family, and all are welcome to participate.
You work with your Scout on their various award requirements, both at home and during meetings.
Many skills they will learn are family oriented.
Parents are active participants in our Scouts’ journey.
Dens are organized by grade level.
Each Den generally meets during the pack meetings every Tuesday during the school year.
The Den is typically led by a Den Leader (parent volunteer) and Assistant Den Leader (parent volunteer).
During Den Meeting scouts will work on advancement requirements for their next rank.
Den meetings also have games, crafts, songs, ceremonies, and lots of fun.
A parent or guardian for each Scout is expected to attend each Den meeting. Dropping off Scouts is typically not allowed. Please discuss any concerns with this with your den leader.
The “pack” consists of all the dens and other leaders.
The pack meets once a week, which includes the den meeting – all Cub Scout families are invited and encouraged to attend.
Several times in the fall, winter, and spring, we will have full pack meetings for special occasions such as award ceremonies, guest speakers, and other celebrations.
The pack typically only meets when Buncombe County Schools are in session. There are a few exceptions, but refer to the Pack calendar for all meeting times and breaks. Cub Scout activities will be canceled when Buncombe County Schools have inclement weather closures.
The committee is made up of a Cubmaster, Asst. Cubmaster, Committee Chair, Treasurer, Den Leaders, Event Chairs and many other positions.
The committee generally meets several times per year. All leaders and interested parents are encouraged to attend.
The committee plans events, organizes volunteers and sets the agenda for the coming year.
Throughout the Scouting year, each Den will work on completing the advancement requirements for their current level. The Lion Den works on the Lion rank, the Bear Den on the Bear rank, and so on. Scouts earn Adventures, awarded as belt loops or pins. Each adventure is themed on a topic like citizenship, physical fitness, outdoors or various hobbies. They will also have the opportunity to earn special awards, as part of Pack events, Den events, or on their own.
Scouts do not need to earn any of the earlier ranks to earn their current rank. Pack 15 uses the Scoutbook.com website to track advancement. You will need to register an account in order to help your Scout through the advancement process.
All Scouts earn the Bobcat adventure each year reinforcing the basics of Cub Scouts. Scouts will learn the Cub Scout Oath, Law, Salute, Sign and Motto. In addition, the Scout must demonstrate the understanding of the core values and explain their importance.
Award ceremonies will be held 2-3 times throughout the year. Your dues cover patches and belt loops awarded during these ceremonies.
After completing the Arrow of Light rank, Scouts who elect to go on to join a Scout BSA (Formerly Boy Scouts) troop will participate in a special ‘Crossover Ceremony’ that we hold each year in the Spring. At the end of the ceremony, the Scouts will be welcomed into their new Scouts BSA troop. Throughout the year, the local Scouts BSA troops will hold events for prospective AOLs to learn more about their troop.
